Mandi Baker went further than a testimonial and sent me a beautifully written poem after my visit to her and Megan - read it here

Dick and Sue with Toffee and Oliver, the two Leonbergers

Oliver(right) and Toffee(left) - nervous fearful behaviourReason for visit:  "Problems with Oliver being very nervous and worried it would develop into nervous aggression."

Did it help?  "Yes! Certain it saved his life.  Taking time but he has improved.  He is better around people, other dogs and strange situations."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Very good.  Keeps us going when we need advice and encouragement."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes, definitely!" Sue Plank, Narberth, Wales

Lola, 3 year old Doberman

Reason for visit:  "Constant pulling on lead and dominance issues."

Did it help?  "Yes!  Now we have a better understanding of Lola's behaviour and actions she is able to be included in activities that we wouldn't have dreamed of before and this has made her much happier. "

How would you rate the backup service?  "Haven't had the need to use it!"

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes!" Sarah Yeldham, Maldon, Essex

Moss - Border Collie, Shadow - Border Collie, Lily - Labrador, Minnie - Jack Russell X, Poppy - Chihuahua

Reason for visit:  "Needed help to bring the pack into order - nervous behaviour."

Did it help?  "Yes!  I hadn't realised how dominant Moss had become and I didn't know how to handle Lily when out of the house or how to work the dogs together as a pack.  I have been following the advice and already the dogs are settling into a relaxed pack - I can feed them all together!  I feel more confident walking Lily. "

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes, definitely!" Hilary Love, Braintree, Essex

Scholar, 11 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Reason for visit:  "Aggressive behaviour to other dogs."

Did it help?  "Yes!  I can now go past other dogs without Scholar trying to attack them or even barking!  I just have to say 'leave' and she does!  Still some room for improvement with dogs who are aggressive to her but getting there. "

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes!  Helped us all a lot not just Scholar  We changed our behaviour as did she and all learned something." Joan Fuller, Ipswich, Suffolk

Saffie, the Border Collie

Saffie, the Border Collie - pulling on lead, car chasing and noise sensitivityReason for visit:  "Pulling on lead, car chasing, noise sensitivity."

Did it help?  "Yes!  She no longer pulls on the lead or chases cars.  By making a few simple changes at home and following a few simple rules we now have very enjoyable walks together which are stress free for me and Saffie.  I now feel that I have a better understanding of my dog and the confidence to help her to continue to overcome her issues with loud noises which are improving all the time."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Excellent!"

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes, definitely!" Karen Laken, Fingringhoe , Essex

Lucy (Lucifer!) and Roxy, the two terriersLucy (right) and Roxy (left) - aggressive, dominant, guarding behaviour

Reason for visit:  "Lucy was bullying Roxy and her aggressive and guarding behaviour lead her to attack me.  Lucy came to us when she was a year old, having been re-homed six times previously.  She had obviously been badly abused and was extremely nervous, guarded everything and stole food whenever she could.  I took her and Roxy to training classes and also had advice about her behaviour from a local behaviourist.  Nothing worked though.  Her guarding turned to aggression and one morning she attacked me without warning for entering my daughter's bedroom.  She also bullied our other dog, Roxy, also a rescue who had her own problems which we had sorted out.  Lucy completely disrupted Roxy's quality of life, making her nervous and she kept messing in the house."

Did it help?  "Candy came to see me and nine weeks later I have much calmer dogs.   Although Lucy still has a lot of issues and there is a long road ahead, she does not guard, steal, growl or attack me or Roxy.  Roxy is much more confident and rarely messes inside, in fact she is now taking up the position of the dominant dog between the two of them.

Candy's methods are calm, kind and practical and also very easy to follow.  She explains the reason for everything you do and it makes sense.  There were no gadgets, water sprays or other deterrents and the dogs can still live with us the way they always have, on beds and couches if we want."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Excellent!  Candy has been a great support, as at times, the progress seemed to be going backwards as Lucy fought against the new regime.  Candy gives such encouragement and is always there to talk to when needed."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Without hesitation!  I have tried many training methods and Candy is the only one that has been successful!" Megan Walsh, Finchley, London

Megan, The German Shepherd X Megan - leadership issues, barking, separation anxiety, fearful and nervous on lead

Reason for visit:  "Leadership issues and undesirable behaviour."

Did it help?  "It was an immense help. The problem with constant barking  was rectified immediately  and now armed with the correct handling procedure, it has continued without problems.   Candy has shown me how to be a more confident leader which has helped out walking and meeting other dogs."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Everything is going so well I have not yet needed to use the service.  Based on the visit, I'm sure it would be excellent."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Without hesitation!  Not only is life much simpler, but more importantly, Megan is a much happier girl." Mandi Baker, Stowmarket, Suffolk

Herbie and Harrie, mother and daughter Jack RussellsHerbie and Harrie - separation anxiety, dominant and aggressive behaviour, nervous and fearful behaviour

Reason for visit:  "Herbie was aggressive to Harrie and visitors.  Both dogs were going to the loo in the house and separation anxieties.  If the dogs were left downstairs at night they would scratch, whine and go to the loo everywhere so we gave in and had them in our bedroom.  At first it was ok as they slept in their baskets at the end of our bed but by the morning, without fail, Harrie would be in the bed UNDER the duvet and if you tried to move her she would wet herself!"

Did it help?  "Absolutely!  Herbie is no longer aggressive which has made Harrie's life so much better.  Both dogs now sleep downstairs and rarely do we find a mess in the morning.  When out on a walk the dogs come straight away when I call instead of hours later.  And there is no more yapping and screaming when I put my coat and boots on!"

How would you rate the backup service?  "I haven't needed any more help as yet but Candy has phoned a few times to see how we are getting on."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Have done already!" Kerry Schwier, Bradfield, Essex

Duke, Border CollieDuke - the dog with the biggest ears ever! - No recall and leadership issues

Reason for visit:  "Bad recall & not being able to catch him off the lead and generally Duke thinking he was the boss"

Did it help?  "Candy explained how Duke was controlling situations and getting his own way, which we hadn’t even noticed -   it really makes sense!  We now know exactly how to deal with him and not to let him get away with things in the house as this will affect his behaviour when out on a walk.  We both now have such a better understanding of the canine world and really enjoy walking our dog.  We do not have to walk him on an 8 ft lead as he comes back first time!!!   He now knows who is top dog and is a really lovely pet to have around."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Excellent as if you forget/need reassurance on what to do, Candy is only on the end of the phone."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Definitely!  Have done so already." Danny and Pip Ditcham, Ipswich, Suffolk

Millie and Milo, Spinone X and Patterdale XMillie and Milo - anti social behaviour, leadership issues

Reason for visit:  "Needing to understand anti-social behaviour from the dogs at home and outside to know how to correct"

Did it help?  "Enormously.  We now understand how the problem evolved and how easy it was, with consistency on our behalf, to turn it around to have a happy household."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Have not needed it yet."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Definitely!" Amingita and Holly Mitchell, Ipswich, Suffolk

Simba, 5 year old GSD

Reason for visit:  "Behavioural problems, territorial, nervous aggression!"

Did it help?  "Yes a lot!  Helped me understand her behaviour better and provided some tools with which to deal with her.  We are slowly making some impact! "

How would you rate the backup service?  "Have not needed it yet, but don't doubt that we will"

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes, happily" Caroline Smith, Kings Langley, Herts

Scooch - Cavalier Spaniel Scooch - over excitable, barking, lead pulling

Reason for visit:  "Very excitable."

Did it help?  "Yes, will carry on with instructions."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Good."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes" Pam Gotts, Barham, Ipswich

Meacha - New Foundland Meacha - attention seeking, grabbing clothes, dominant issues

Reason for visit:  "Meacha was seeking attention by grabbing hold of my clothes and wrists."

Did it help?  "Yes, it did help.  By showing me that I needed to be boss at all times."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Good."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes" Mary Wright, Boxted, Essex

Bailey - Old English Sheepdog Bailey - the Old English Sheepdog - bad recall, barking in car and house, lead pulling

Reason for visit:  "Recall problems, bad behaviour in house and pulling on lead"

Did it help?  "Yes.  Candy explained how to overcome Bailey's problems.  He is already better behaved in the house and at coming to us when off lead."

How would you rate the backup service?  "First class."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes, most definitely!" Jenny and Harry Stehenson, Witham, Essex

Monty - black lab with issues!Monty - the Labrador - dog to dog and dog to human nervous aggression, barking, some dominance issues

Reason for visit:  "Aggression towards other dogs and men"

Did it help?  "Very much so!  I regained control, felt confident away from home and was made to understand my actions were not helping.  After Candy's help we had big improvements."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Good.  Candy was always there for backup and encouragement."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes, most definitely!" Karen Damm, Hadleigh, Suffolk

Donna with Sky the RottweilerDonna and Sky - bad recall, aggression to other dogs

Reason for visit:  "Displaying unacceptable behaviour on walks towards other dogs.  Not good with recall"

Did it help?  "It helped considerably.  Gave me confidence and the tools to deal with Sky when walking her and to enable me to shift the power of pack leader from her to me. (Not given up freely, I hasten to add, bless her!)"

How would you rate the backup service?  "1st class.  There when I needed her."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes.  Already have." Donna Harvey-Arnell, Ipswich, Suffolk

Mace, the Alaskan MalamuteMace the Alaskan Malamute - very dominant behaviour, constant barking, pulling on lead, leadership issues

"I have an Alaskan Malamute called Mace - you may have seen him on BBC Look East.  I love Mace to bits however I had no control over him at all, in fact, it was the other way around.  Mace controlled my household completely.  He was howling so much I was at the end of my tether, not knowing which way to turn.

My friend heard Candy on  Radio Suffolk and suggested I contact her.  At that time I was looking for some kind of boot camp for Mace because I knew if I didn't get some kind of grip on him I would probably have to give him up.  That would have meant a long road of despair for him.  Who wants a noisy uncontrollable big dog?  Candy has saved him for me.

On her visit I learned much about this member of the pack, after all, that is what he is!  I was able to relax a little.  The journey I was about to embark on was, I have to say, a tough one.  I certainly needed a lot of patience and trust what Candy was saying as he is a stubborn big beast but Candy was there every step of the way.  Her knowledge of the canine world is astonishing and although she has all this knowledge she doesn't talk above you but explains it to you.  It has taken some time to get him to a point of being relaxed but there was a noticeable change in him from the very first meeting with Candy.  It gets better every day.

I have acquired a new friend too!  She is easy to talk to, very understanding and goes that extra mile to help.  I would like to thank her for all that she has done for my family, especially Mace, as he was an unhappy dog before.  Now he is more relaxed and happy for me to take responsibility for the pack - well most of the time anyway! " Susan Kapp, Brantham, Suffolk

Max, the Boxer with the big personality!Max the Boxer - very excitable, lead pulling, jumping up, no recall

"We first heard about Candy Rogers and her work on Radio Suffolk and  were, at the time, having trouble with Max, our 2 year old neutered ( heaven help us if he wasn't !) male Boxer.  Although he was an 'honest' dog, showing no sign of aggression, either towards humans or other dogs, he was extremely difficult to handle.  In short, he was a very large personality who felt he should dominate the household.  If anyone came to the house he would jump  all over them and leap around all over the place.  Also, when out for a walk he would set the pace and then start performing 'karate moves', presumably to be allowed to run free when he wanted.  His main offensive was against me, as my husband, being larger and stronger, was better equipped to deal with him.

On her first visit Candy spent a whole afternoon with us and pointed out where we were going wrong.  On a subsequent visit we walked him over the fields so she could see him in action.  She showed me how to deal with the 'karate moves' and he is much better.  I find that I must not lapse into making too much fuss of him at home ( quite difficult! ) otherwise we are back where we started.

Candy has been very conscientious in keeping in touch with us to monitor our progress and we know she is always on hand if necessary.  Her teaching methods do not use any gadgets or bribery, i.e. titbits but rely solely on kind but firm handling." June and Brian, Eye, Suffolk

Zachery Merrymore Trail-blazer Penegar, the Bearded CollieZac, the Bearded Collie - dominant, constant barking in the car, growling at owners

Reason for visit:  "Continuous barking in the car.  Our problem is that every time we put Zac in the car he barks himself senseless.  You cannot hear yourself think, let alone concentrate on the road and Michael, who has a severe heart condition, is completely stressed out by Zac's crazy behaviour"

Did it help?  "Yes  very much so.  Candy explained that her method is an ongoing process.  She also explained the power of positive training and said screaming and yelling were absolute no-nos and have no place in dog training and that it is based on vocal commands and physical signals.  She showed us personally how to handle Zac in the car."

How would you rate the backup service?  "Candy Rogers' backup service is second to none.  You can phone her for advice at any time and no problem is too much trouble for her.  Candy explains in her tutorial that this is a continuous service for as long as it is needed."

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Most certainly!  We have told all our family and friends about how good she is.  Having tried various methods, collars, clickers, sprays, etc and paid out a lot of money on one-to-one training to no avail - thank goodness for Candy Rogers.  We will continue to enforce her methods." Jackie and Michael Penegar, Walkern, Hertfordshire

James Howlett with his two Briards, Misty and TsumiJames with Misty and Tsumi - barking, separation anxiety, leadership issues

"We heard about Candy when she was being interviewed on ‘Look East’.  This coincided with the fact that we were having problems, in particular with one of our dogs, Tsumi, the mother of Misty, because she had become very manic and noisy, especially when we had friends coming into the house.  We particularly liked Candy’s website.

We arranged an appointment and were very pleased with the way Candy approached her subject.  This gave us, and hopefully the two dogs, the confidence to put into practice her recommendations.  Candy was very open and ‘hands-on’ and obviously had total confidence in her methods.

The outcome of Candy’s visit and the subsequent follow-up discussions over the phone, resulted in an immediate improvement.  However, during the following months, we, the owners, were becoming increasingly despondent.  Tsumi, in particular, was reverting to her old habits, and we were coming to the conclusion that it was as much our fault as it was the dog’s fault.  Her daughter, Misty, is a delightful animal and has responded to training very well.  But we have decided that either we are too old or Tsumi is, and have opted to live with the problem for the time being.  We have our methods, very much based on the guidelines set out by Candy, and are going to pursue them at our own pace.

If anyone wants help with the training and understanding of their dogs, then Candy is the lady to contact.  She knows her subject, has studied it with great determination, and we would not hesitate to recommend her.  We particularly liked the fact that she was prepared to follow up her recommendations and keep in touch."  James and Pi Howlett, Holt, Norfolk

Sam, the RottweilerSam, the boss! dominance issues, barking, aggressive, lead pulling

"We had tried everything with Sam, our 4 year old Rottweiler - water pistols, collars that sprayed citrus in his face when he barked, special head collars, car harness, etc, etc.  What he could not eat he broke.  He wrecked the garden, our social life and slept on our bed.  We had even tried dog training classes until he was expelled!!!

We called
Walking With Wolves.  Candy came and showed us how, by following her calm, easy to understand instructions persistently, we could communicate with Sam and gently ease him from the stressful task of being the leader of our pack.

In a short period Sam has accepted his new position, found out that life is still fun and we have learnt that we have a dog that loves us.  The picture of Sam is as he was - our boss, now reformed.  The system used by Candy works.  Take it from all three of us."  Phil and Tessa French, Stowmarket, Suffolk

Irene and John Berntsson with Ty and IbsenIrene and John Berntsson with Ty and Ibsen - barking, fearful behaviour, separation anxiety

"I contacted Candy after trying for years to be the leader of the pack!  A few words of wisdom from Candy and a walk with the dogs and a miracle occurred!

Peace and calm now reign at last.

I thought her after service was perfect too."  Irene Berntsson, Felixstowe, Suffolk

Benny, the Border Terrier and Dougal, the PatterdaleBenny and Dougal - leadership issues, barking, lead pulling

Reason for visit:  "General misbehaviour - jumping up, pulling on lead"

Did it help?  "Yes it has definitely helped.  The dogs have stopped jumping up when we have guests.  They are much easier to walk although sometimes they slip back into their pulling ways!  We just have to work hard at not letting them get away with it"!

How would you rate the backup service?  "10 out of 10"

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Most definitely" Sarah Sexton, Colchester, Essex

Fen, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Hollie, the Jack Russell crossFen and Hollie - dominant behaviour, barking, attention seeking

Reason for visit:  "Following me around, staring at me, barking, pestering guests, aggression, pulling on leads and more!"

Did it help?  "Thank you so much, Candy.  You helped me loads!  Everything I had a problem with you had a way to help.  You made everything so clear and simple to understand which was brilliant.  Thank you!"

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes, definitelyI have already recommended you to a lady who is having dog problems!" Amber Jones, Eye, Suffolk

Reason for visit:  "Uncontrollable barking, bad behaviour, disobedience, hyperactivity, very excitable!"

Would you recommend Candy Rogers?  "Yes!" Natasha Ramirez, Newport, Saffron Walden

Woody, 2 1/2 year old Westie

Reason for visit:  "Loss of control, barking, growling"
